ABOUT:
Pick a duet partner in our studio! We have had everything from siblings, mother and child, husband and wife, grandparent and grandchild or best friends forming duos here at the studio. Forms are filled out to make sure that your availability with your duet partner is similar. If your duet partner is in the same household, you do not need to fill out this form - simply communicate with your teacher on your intentions of forming a duo with your child/parent/sibling. Ideally, we would utilize both your current lesson times to rehearse and receive coaching from your piano teacher. Typically, a student would attend their duet partner’s lesson time one week and vice-versa the following week. This is a fantastic program if you would like to experience making music with another Piano Academy student during your already booked lesson times at no additional cost. Rehearsals will not be scheduled outside of your current lesson times. Again, be sure you have the time to commit to learn your parts well - this is only fun when both piano players are equally putting the work in. It’s a team effort!
GOAL: Learning ONE piece for our upcoming virtual concert and although not a requirement we hope that you consider performing your duo piece in a an upcoming performance class this semester. Check out the EVENTS page for upcoming performance opportunities.
DURATION: Students will begin to learn their individual piano part in their private lesson as soon as their piano duo is approved. Duo sessions end once a successful performance is recorded for our upcoming virtual concert.
STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS:
-Duos must be able to rehearse together on their own time + be able to attend minimum ONE lesson time together per week.
-Must be currently enrolled at the Chapleau Piano Academy
-Must have taken a minimum of 1 Year of Piano Lessons (At the Chapleau Piano Academy or with another teacher)
-It is NOT necessary for both students to be at the exact same playing level - duo pieces can easily be arranged for each of your playing levels.
-Student must evidently practice piano regularly and show a good understanding of basic music notation reading.
-Great attendance record in their private lessons
